Looks like the Spectacle may have a cameo in this Sunday's Chron. Plus the reporter says she's interested in "revisiting" us.
Might be front page of the gate.
Hmmm what's that gonna look like? Idiots make nosepicking machine forget to ask for money! eeeee!

Re: In the chron???
Mon, May 30, 2005 - 12:20 PMI'm amazed that the breathless Chronicle reporter seems to think that building things out of real materials and organizing a real in-person salon are new ideas. Hell, 9 years ago I began an in-person salon that met in coffeehouses for 4 years and couldn't get a peep out of the Chron about it.
The Chron has discovered the non-Internet. Amazing.
Oh well.
Good article, by the way. I love the pipe quote.

yeah, that was funny.
As far as media is concerned, it's like the 'ol song says. It's not what you do, it's how/where/when you do it.
I thought Scrap house was gonna be in Fort Mason, but now it's in front of City Hall. Holy Crap!!!!! The location change makes such a powerful statement! For sure the difference between page 1 and page 5.
I worked at a city newspaper in my youth and have sympathy for writers. Very competitive & so many rules they have to go by.
I had to write obituaries and a big concern was size. You had to be pretty important to get four inches! It was nothing personal. Only the most basic information of family time and location of service would fit.

A sad day for the world
Thu, July 7, 2005 - 7:39 AMI was going to tell all my friends to pick up the newspaper. However the headlines today give me pause. I love London. London is where this project ultimately started. I have been on those busses and in those stations. It is absolutely blowing my mind that there are people who's asshole level is so high, that they could have a desire to hurt that place and those people. I felt the same way about New York...but there you could almost sense that they (insanely) were aiming at buildings and not people. What the fuck do they think to gain by killing office workers and dental assistants???!!!!!
I'm sorry....
On a better day, this article could have made people smile. At least, check out the shirt that Don wears and the horrible look on my face!

I'm sure it did make people smile today. Smiles are what people need. The world is a place with some very bitter people in it. Bitterness poisons people like a toxic cloud. It's our duty to help cheer up people, especially in times like today.
I remember many times playing my music in the subway, and not thinking that my little effort was really affecting anyone. So many people looked so sad or bitter or angry coming off BART. But if I was gone for a few days and came back, people who were otherwise fairly morose would tell me that they appreciated the levity in their day.
As to the photos, it's bizarre that the photos used didn't show the wheel, since that's the most visible part and it was talked about the most. The photos on the website were good, too.
Interesting that Don and you are "Don Bruce and his wife", and coming from a woman, too. Very odd.
But heck, I'm sure the article will inspire others to try things just for the heck of doing them.
As for the look, I thought you were doing the cool artist look. After all, you're an artist now. Someone else said you're an artist, so that makes you an artist.
